Holiday Donation Guide
It’s officially holiday season!!! By now you have finished stuffing yourself with Turkey and you have put up Christmas decorations around the house. Joy, love, and gratitude are in the air and you feel the need to give back this season. If this is you this season, I’d like to share Helen Adams Realty’s donation resource guide for the Charlotte area. Our company has compiled a list of reputable charities and organizations for your family to contribute to those who are less fortunate, here’s a few of my favorites:
A national organization that provides trade specific educational opportunities for the community, funded through the retail thrift store. It’s a great place to donate clothes, toys, furniture, and miscellaneous home accessories or electronics. Goodwill does resale items donated. All donations are tax deductible and various locations for drop-offs throughout Charlotte area.
A religious ministry that provides various assistance options to the less fortunate in the community.Donate clothes, furniture, household items. Personal care items and warm blankets are in high demand during the holiday season. All items donated are provided to families in need at no charge.
Like Goodwill, Salvation Army is a national brand that sells your donated items in retail thrift stores. Home and clothing items are needed year round. Special Donations for the Center of Hope include: diapers, feminine products, toiletries, towels and washcloths, and pillows. You can schedule a pickup from your home.
Dress for Success
A non-profit organization helps prepare women for the workforce and they are always in need of appropriate interview attire for women. Professional women’s clothes and accessories are always needed. Partnership opportunities are available to host a clothing drive.
Habitat for Humanity ReStore
Two locations, Charlotte and Cornelius, NC. . Items are resold at a reduced cost to public. Both locations accept new and gently used furniture. Useful materials may be recycled towards home building material for a new Habitat for Humanity home.
Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency
The organization plays a vital role in refugees’ resettlement in the Charlotte area. Donations of furniture and beds are needed to furnish refugee apartments. Your donation could be life-changing for someone in need.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina
A local non-profit organization that strives to end hunger by solicitation and distribution of food. Accepts non-perishable food as well as pet food. They are always looking for volunteers, so you can give back in multiple ways here!
In addition to these various organizations throughout the Charlotte area, there are also full-service or self-service recycling centers in Charlotte. Let’s keep up the holiday cheer and make our community better by giving to those less fortunate. I promise you will feel more joy and gratitude when you donate.
Have I missed any of your favorite places to donate?!!
